Mark Holroyd is a Partner with White Rapids Capital, LLC, a middle market private equity investment firm.  Based in Chicago, Mark is responsible for originating and executing private capital investments for the firm., developing and cultivating relationships with Midwest and West Coast deal sources, as well as directly with companies seeking capital.  Mark has a wide breadth of middle market private equity transaction expertise and deal origination capabilities, including control and minority equity investments.  He also has experience with venture capital investments and restructurings.  He is a member of White Rapid’s Management and Investment Committees.

Prior to White Rapids Capital, Mark was a Managing Director for RIN Capital, LLC, a family office private equity investor.  Before joining RIN Capital, he was a Senior Vice President and originator on the direct equity investment team for GE Capital, Equity, the US private equity arm of GE Capital.  In this role, he sourced and executed middle market private equity investments in industries where GE could apply its expertise.  Mark joined GE Equity in 2007, initially with GE Equity’s LP investment team where he managed $300+MM of LP investment commitments on behalf of GE Equity.  He also worked in GE Equity’s portfolio management and restructuring group during the financial crisis (2008-2010). From 2009 to 2013, Mark was a member of the original team that founded GE Capital’s $250MM “healthymagination Fund” a venture capital effort to augment GE Healthcare’s strategic activity.  His contributions helped grow assets from zero to more than $100MM before the healthymagination group was spun out to GE’s formal corporate venturing group, GE Ventures. 

Prior to his experience with GE Equity, Mark was a Vice President with American Capital Strategies, Inc., a $11.5 billion publicly traded (NASDAQ: ACS) private equity and mezzanine investment firm, where he originated, executed and managed control equity, minority equity and, mezzanine debt investments. He began his career in 1990 in the Leadership Development Program of Heller Financial, Inc. (NASDAQ: HFI), later gaining M&A experience in the Corporate Development Group and LBO transaction skills with the Corporate Finance Group. Mark’s sourced and managed stage venture and growth equity investments at Diamondcluster Capital Management, an affiliate of Diamondcluster International (NASDAQ: DTPI), and Ridge Capital Partners, a lower middle market private equity fund. 

Mark’s past Board of Director affiliations include American Fire Protection, Kester, Inc., Bridgeport Machines, Inc., Academy Tent, Grede Foundries, c8 MediSensors, Veran Medical Technologies, Ornim Medical and HMP Communications.  He also served on the Advisory Boards of several private equity funds.

Mark earned a B.S. in Finance, and a B.A. in Economics (Honors Program) from Indiana University.  He earned his M.B.A. with Honors from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business.  He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Mark lives with his wife and children in the suburb of Wilmette, IL on Chicago’s North Shore.
