Maria is a Labor and Employment partner and leads DLA Piper’s Los Angeles Employment group. She counsels domestic and foreign corporations in all areas of employment law compliance and has extensive employment class action and single and multiple plaintiff litigation defense experience, and enjoys the strategic aspects of litigation.
Maria works with clients, domestically and globally, on management and human resource issues, mergers & acquisitions, post-merger issues and re-organizations, employment contracts, reductions in workforce, labor union and NLRA issues, social media, trade secrets, employee mobility and restrictive covenants, federal and state regulatory compliance (EEO, ADA, I9, whistleblower, etc.).
She and her team have achieved many victories for clients by way of early motions to dismiss, summary judgment, defeating class certification, and leveraging cases early to produce top of market results, but she ultimately prides herself on helping clients avoid costly litigation and improving bottom line through proactive strategic planning.
