Margo Tank is a partner of BuckleySandler LLP. Ms. Tank advises financial services providers on how to structure online business programs in compliance with the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (ESIGN) and the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (UETA), and other state and federal laws governing electronic financial services transactions, including laws related to privacy and data security, electronic record management, e-discovery and payments.
 
Ms. Tank's other activities include acting as the Co-Reporter for the Drafting Committee preparing the Standards and Procedures for Electronic Records and Signatures (SPeRS) (http://www.spers.org/), and advocacy before Congress and federal regulators with respect to electronic financial services issues as counsel to the Electronic Financial Services Council and the Electronic Signatures and Records Association.
 
Ms. Tank is co-author of The Law of Electronic Signatures and Records (West, a Thomson Reuters business, 2009-2010 Edition) and a number of articles, including the following: "eMortgage Implementation Considerations," Electronic Banking Law and Commerce Report, Volume 11, Number 6 (July/August 2006); "It's the Message, Not the Medium! Electronic Record and Electronic Signature Rules Preserve Existing Focus of the Law on Content, Not Medium of Recorded Land Title Instruments," The Business Lawyer (August 2005); "The Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act - An Overview," Boston University School of Law, Annual Review of Banking Law (2001); "Electronic Signatures - Changing the Financial Landscape," The Conference on Consumer Finance Law, Quarterly Report (2000); and "The Emerging Legal Landscape for Bank Insurance Activities," Boston University School of Law, Annual Review of Banking Law (1998). She also authored a white paper titled Electronic Financial Services in Emerging Market Countries at the request of the International Monetary Fund. Ms. Tank is a frequent speaker at financial services conferences on the electronic delivery of financial services.
 
Prior to joining BuckleySandler, Ms. Tank was a partner with Goodwin Procter LLP. Before entering private practice, she was counsel to the U.S. House of Representatives, Committee on Banking and Financial Services. Ms. Tank received her J.D. from Drake University Law School in 1992 (with honors) and while there was Projects Editor for the Drake University Law Review. She received a B.A. from the University of Vermont in 1985 and also studied commercial law at Queens College, Oxford University in England in 1991.
