Manuel Garciadiaz is a partner in the Corporate Department of Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP. He regularly advises U.S. and non-U.S. clients on capital markets transactions, including initial public offerings, high-yield debt offerings and exchange offers, mergers and acquisitions, structured and project financings, liability management and debt restructurings, primarily in Latin America.

He has worked on more than 70 capital markets transactions involving Latin American issuers during the last five years. He has worked on some of the most significant capital market transactions in Latin America, including advising Santander Brasil on its $7.6 billion IPO, OGX Petróleo e Gás on its $4.1 billion IPO and the underwriters on the $3.4 billion IPO by BM&F.

He received his B.A., summa cum laude, and M.A. in 1991, both from Yale University, and his M.P.P. in International Trade and Finance in 1993 from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. In 1996, he received his J.D. from Harvard Law School, where he was managing editor of the Harvard Law Review. 

Manuel joined Davis Polk in 1998 and became a partner in 2005.  He clerked for the Honorable Diarmuid F. O'Scannlain, U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, from 1996 to 1997. He is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.

He is consistently listed as a leading lawyer in several legal industry publications, including: Chambers Global: The World's Leading Lawyers for Business, Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business, Chambers Latin America: Latin America's Leading Lawyers for Business, IFLR 1000: The Guide to the World's Leading Financial Law Firms, Legal Media Group's Expert Guide to the World's Leading Capital Markets Lawyers, and Legalese's The Legal 500 (United States). In April 2008, The American Lawyer named Manuel as one of nine individual "Dealmakers of the Year" in the United States.
