M. Timothy Renjilian

Tim Renjilian is a senior managing director in the FTI Forensic and Litigation Consulting practice and is based in Atlanta. Mr. Renjilian has been providing compliance consulting, forensic accounting and dispute advisory services to attorneys and corporate clients since 1987. He has extensive experience in healthcare, government contracting, construction, intellectual property and other matters.

In his dispute advisory role, Mr. Renjilian has developed settlement strategies, performed early case assessments, and analyzed damage calculations. In a nondispute context, he has assisted companies in investigating internal compliance matters and in developing ways to enhance the effectiveness of compliance programs. He has also audited the financial statements of public and private companies with complex accounting and financial reporting systems.

Mr. Renjilian advises clients on cost accounting and financial analysis matters, including compliance with governmental cost accounting requirements, the allocation of indirect costs, product and process profitability reviews, cost estimating system procedures, overhead cost reduction reviews and product pricing strategies.

In the healthcare industry, Mr. Renjilian has helped clients address qui tam lawsuits, congressional and regulatory inquiries, criminal false claims allegations, compliance investigations and other matters. These matters have involved cost report false claims, Stark law violations, outlier payments, medical necessity concerns, coding disputes and other issues. His clients include the largest for-profit hospital systems in the country; one of the largest non-profit chains; and some of the most prominent academic medical centers.

In the government contracting realm, Mr. Renjilian has prepared contractor claims involving terminations for convenience, constructive change orders, defective specifications and project delays. He helped to defend criminal False Claims Act charges related to the submission of contract proposals and civil charges relating to the accounting for assets acquired in a business combination. He has prepared cost accounting disclosure statements, indirect cost submissions and responses to DCAA audit reports.

In the construction industry, Mr. Renjilian has conducted contract cost audits, represented both owners and contractors in claim disputes involving a wide range of issues and advised organizations on project management and risk control issues. His analyses have involved direct and indirect project costs and consequential issues such as lost profits, lost bonding capacity and unabsorbed overhead.

Mr. Renjilian's intellectual property work has included damage analyses related to patent, trademark and trade dress issues in industries such as manufacturing, consumer products and pharmaceuticals.

Prior to joining FTI, Mr. Renjilian was a partner in KPMG's Dispute Advisory Services practice.
