M. Audrey Carr

M. Audrey Carr, the Director of Immigration and Programs at Legal Services, NYC, has practiced immigration law for over ten years. At Legal Services NYC, she supervises the organization's immigration, veterans and language access projects. Trained in International Business management, with degrees from Earlham College and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (MBA), Ms. Carr went to work for the United Nations Development Fund for Women in New York and in Harare, Zimbabwe. She subsequently earned a law degree at St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas, and practiced law in Minneapolis, in both a non-profit and a private law firm setting. Ms. Carr has extensive experience representing clients seeking asylum based on sexual orientation and political opinion and with deportation, consular processing, Federal Court litigation and family-based immigration cases, including work with battered immigrant women. Ms. Carr is admitted to the New York State Bar and the Eight Circuit Court of Appeals. She is a member of the Veterans Committee of the New York State Bar Association, as well as an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). She speaks French fluently and is extensively involved in advocacy on immigration, veterans and language access policies.
