Liza Franklin is a Deputy Corporation Counsel in the City of Chicago Department of Law.  As Deputy of the Federal Civil Rights Defense Litigation Division, Liza heads the Division of the Law Department responsible for defending all state and federal cases alleging intentional misconduct by Chicago police officers.  In addition to managing a team of 47 attorneys and 12 support staff on the more than 400 cases handled in-house, Liza monitors the 97 cases being handled by outside counsel and tries high-exposure cases.

Liza is an adjunct professor at John Marshall Law School.  She also teaches part of the Trial Advocacy Seminar for the University of Chicago Law School.
