Lisa Chippindale is a Managing Director/U.S. Tax Counsel (Canada) with Royal Bank of Canada.  Lisa has over 20 years of tax experience related to structuring international investments and financial products. Currently, Lisa’s practice focuses on working with RBC's Capital Markets business to implement U.S. and global tax initiatives, including 871(m), Common Reporting Standards and FATCA.

With regard to these initiatives, Lisa advises Capital Markets' operations, information technology and front office personnel on the changes necessary to comply with the requirements. Lisa is actively engaged in reviewing decision models related to systems changes to accommodate these regimes and in negotiating and updating RBC Capital Market’s legal documents to address concerns related to current tax developments.

Lisa is a regular speaker on tax issues related to capital markets. She is an active member of a variety of industry groups, and participates in subcommittees that focus on FATCA, CRS and 871(m). As part of such industry groups, Lisa has been a contributor to a number of comment letters to the IRS and Treasury related to FATCA as well as to the Canadian Department of Finance with regard to the Canadian Intergovernmental Agreement, Canada’s approach to implementing the Common Reporting Standards and related guidance.
