Ms. Weiss is a member of Sonnenschein’s Corporate Practice. Her practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances, venture capital transactions and licensing transactions. Ms. Weiss represents companies in the music, film,  games, digital media, technology and services sectors. Her experience includes transactions involving cable television, direct marketing, advertising and the Internet, as well as cross-border deals with companies in Europe, Israel, Asia and Latin America.

Prior to joining Sonnenschein, Ms. Weiss was a partner at Morrison & Foerster LLP. Previously, she served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Sony Music Entertainment, where she was instrumental in structuring the merger with BMG that established Sony Music as the world’s second largest recorded music company. 

Representative Matters

  • Represented of EMI Group Limited in connection with its participation in the MySpace Music joint venture and related agreements authorizing MySpace Music's digital distribution of EMI's sound recordings and music videos in connection with, among other things, ad-supported streaming and e-commerce offerings including downloads and ringtones.
  • Represented Sony Music Entertainment, a major music company, in select and digital media and other transactions.
  • Represented EMI Music North America in connection with an agreement with YouTube, a video sharing service, authorizing access to EMI's worldwide catalog of audio and audiovisual recordings.
  • Represented EMI Music North America in connection with select digital media transactions, joint ventures, acquisitions and sales of businesses.
  • Represented RED Distribution, a distributor of independent record labels, in connection with transactions authorizing the digital download of recorded music via various web-based services.
  • Represented a leading multi-platform casual games company in connection with its acquisition of a creator of casual games for interactive television.
  • Represented a television production company in connection with its strategic investment in a leading television advertising platform.
  • Represented a principal of a web design and marketing firm in connection with its sale to a major advertising agency.
