Linton J. Childs

Mr. Childs is a partner in the Chicago office of Sidley Austin LLP and a member of the Firm’s Office of General Counsel.  He has served as leader of the Firm’s Accountants and Professional Liability practice and has represented professional services firms in civil litigation and government investigations for more than 25 years.  He has also represented clients in a wide range of other commercial litigation matters including antitrust, ERISA, and securities and shareholder litigation.

Mr. Childs is a director and past chair of the Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law and is a member of the Professional Liability Litigation Committee of the ABA’s Section of Litigation and former co-chair of its Accountants Liability Subcommittee. He is a past recipient of the Excellence in Pro Bono and Public Interest Service Award from the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the Chicago Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.

Mr. Childs served as a law clerk to the Honorable David A. Nelson of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit from 1988 to 1989.

Mr. Childs is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School.
