Liliana Vaamonde has been serving low income New Yorkers for 22 years on diverse civil subject matters and in various civil forums.  Currently, she is the Managing Attorney of the Civil Practice of The Legal Aid Society. She was formerly the Training Director for the Civil Practice of The Legal Aid Society.  She has taken a leadership role in grants management, the establishment of our Access to Benefits and Sandy Disaster Relief helpline, and various cross-practice and organization initiatives.  She began her career at The Legal Aid Society's Bronx Neighborhood Office where she worked in the Housing Unit. Subsequently, Ms. Vaamonde has worked in the Society's Government Benefits, Health Law and HIV/AIDS Representation Units.  Her career has included working with Legal Health, a medical-legal partnership with the New York Legal Assistance Group and serving as the Program Director of the NYC Managed Care Consumer Assistance Group where she was responsible for training and providing technical assistance to 25 community based organizations that provided advocacy services for access to health coverage and care to their communities.    Ms. Vaamonde received her B.S. from Tufts University in 1987 and her J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law in 1991.  She is an alumna of the Immigrant Civic Leadership Project at the Coro New York Leadership Center and the recipient of the New York County Lawyers’ Association 2014 Award for Outstanding Public Service.
