Leonard Orland is Professor of Law at the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he teaches courses in corporate criminal liability, white collar crime, criminal procedure, and antitrust and criminal law. He is an internationally recognized expert in the field of corporate criminal law with a broad combination of experiences as a practitioner, mediator, consultant, scholar, and public servant. Mr. Orland practiced as a corporate antitrust attorney. Subsequently, as a law professor at he University of Connecticut, he served as a consultant to several government agencies, including the Federal Courts Study Committee, the United States Justice Department, the United States Sentencing Commission and the federal district and circuit judges of the Second Circuit. He has been a consultant to the state and federal correctional administrators, was a member of a parole board, and served as Advisor and Reporter for the Sentencing Institute for the First and Second Circuits of the United States, Advisor to the National Conference of Commissioners of Uniform State Laws. He has been an Invited Expert for the Chinese Ministry of Justice to review the Chinese criminal justice system and a Ford Foundation Scholar to examine criminal justice systems in Europe and Asia.

Professor Orland has broad consulting experience in the private sector for major corporations (including Microsoft and Mercedes-Benz USA) as well as for Defense Council (including counsel in major financial fraud cases involving Michele Sindona and Michael Milken).

Professor Orland is the author of twelve books and many law review articles, and has co-authored works with the late Marvin Frankel, Senior Federal Judge Harold Tyler, Jr. and Yale Law School Dean Emeritus A. S. Goldstein. In addition to his position at the University of Connecticut Law School, he has been a Visiting Professor at the Free University of Berlin; the University of Exeter, England; Beijing University; and Jagiellonian University; Krakow, Poland. He has been a Visiting Fellow at the Institute for Social and Policy Studies, Yale University, the Institute of Criminology, Cambridge, U.K., and the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law, Freiburg, Germany. He served on the Editorial Advisory Board of the RICO Law Reporter and the Corporate Criminal Liability Reporter. Professor Orland has organized and co-chaired continuing legal education programs on corporate criminal liability for the Practicing Law Institute and the Federal Bar Council.
