Laurie Kamaiko’s practice focuses on advising clients on emerging and complex risks, including cybersecurity, terrorism and natural catastrophes, and helping clients limit exposure to cyber incidents and respond to data breaches and related litigation. She has extensive experience in counseling companies in the insurance and reinsurance industry on the handling of claims and coverage issues arising from these events, as well as working closely with such companies on new product development and policy wordings.

Ms. Kamaiko also has substantial experience providing advice to insurers and reinsurers on other complex coverage issues as well, and in negotiating resolution of coverage disputes and litigating coverage actions. She has successfully represented numerous clients involved in coverage disputes concerning general liability claims, professional liability matters, environmental risks involving significant damages and complex liability issues, and first party coverages.

Ms. Kamaiko has authored numerous articles on cybersecurity exposures, privacy risks and insurance for publications and organizations in the United States and the United Kingdom. She is a sought-after panelist and speaker at professional conferences and seminars.

Ms. Kamaiko is admitted to practice in New York and Massachusetts. She is a member of the New York State Bar Association’s Committee on Association Insurance and a past president of the Association of Professional Insurance Women (APIW). She is on the American Bar Association’s Member TIPS Section and is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals. Ms. Kamaiko has been included in the New York Metro Super Lawyers listings by Thomson Reuters for multiple years.

Ms. Kamaiko received her J.D. (1980) from Boston University School of Law and her B.A. (1976) from Vassar College, where she majored in psychology.
