Laura Auletta is the Executive Director of Policy and Acquisition Workforce for the Office of the Chief Procurement Officer at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).  She oversees acquisition policy and workforce training, certification, and development needs to support the Department’s more than $16 billion in procured goods and services in FY 2014 directly linked to the fulfillment of the DHS mission.  She is responsible for the Homeland Security Acquisition Institute, charged with managing recruitment, professional development, and succession planning for the Department’s acquisition workforce.

Ms. Auletta previously served as the Director for Government-wide Acquisition Policy at the General Services Administration (GSA) and chaired the Civilian Agency Acquisition Council (CAAC).  In that capacity, she led the civilian agencies in developing the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).  The FAR governs the more than $460 billion in federal annual procurement spending.  Prior to that, Ms. Auletta worked at the Office of Federal Procurement Policy (OFPP), Office of Management and Budget (OMB) where she was responsible for competition, intellectual property, and supply chain policy.  Before joining OFPP, she was the Executive Director for the Acquisition Advisory Panel established by statute to recommend legislative, regulatory and policy changes to improve the federal government’s acquisition system. 

Ms. Auletta began her federal service as an intern with the Department of Defense and was a supervisory Contracting Officer managing source selections and contract administration for major information technology programs.

A graduate of Arizona State University, Ms. Auletta holds degrees in Economics and Political Science.
