Kurt M. Anderson

Carus Group
Director of Tax & Finance
Downers Grove, IL, USA

Kurt Anderson joined CDH in February 2011 as The Principal-in-Charge of our Tax Group.

As an attorney and CPA, Kurt has practiced many years in several different settings, though his touch stone has always been to reduce clients’ tax obligations, whether the taxes are corporate, estate or individual income taxes. While his practice is focused on tax reduction for the entrepreneur, he has developed an in-depth knowledge of the use of various types of entities and transactions that can be used to an entrepreneur’s advantage.

Upon graduation from John Marshall, he joined Ernst and Whinney in its tax department, where he earned his license as a CPA. In 1989, he moved to Handler & Hansen where he continued to practice in the area of taxation of Pass-through entities and asset protection. In 1995, he was hired by The Northern Trust Company to work in the Wealth Management Group to assist in the development of its Family Limited Partnership practice. Then in 1998, he moved his practice to Veatch Rich & Nadler (ultimately was acquired by American Express Tax and Business Services) where he first met Eugene M. Cummings. In 2006, Mr. Cummings asked Kurt to join his firm to handle the various tax and accounting issues encountered by the Firm and its clients.

Kurt resides in Barrington Hills with his wife Heidi and their three daughters, Hailey, Hollis and Mette. He is an avid sailor and when not on the water, he enjoys spending time outdoors, skiing, horseback riding, biking, fishing and hunting.
