Kristy Browder Edwards

Director, Information Security and Risk Management
Pleasanton,, CA, USA

Kristy Browder Edwards started her career in the mobile device industry at Psion-prior the company creating the Symbian OS-and well before the iPhone or even the Palm Pilot were dreamt up. At Psion, she worked in the U.S. and in London as a product manager for the Psion Series 5 handheld computer.

Just last week, Kristy joined Workday as the Director of Information Security and Risk Management. Workday provides enterprise cloud-based applications for enterprises in the United States and internationally. Previously Kristy was at McKesson Corporation, the nation's leading healthcare services company, as senior director for privacy innovation. There she helped to shape and advance McKesson's strategy around information uses and protection. She also lead enterprise projects and provided thought leadership around privacy to help drive and further develop McKesson's privacy program and positions.

In her 14 years at Oracle Corporation, Kristy developed her dual security/privacy expertise. She was most recently the senior director for global data privacy and information security. In this role Kristy:

  • Led the Global Privacy and Information Security team, using a deep understanding of varied privacy frameworks around the world.
  • Advised business leaders across business sectors and regions on security and privacy risk, technical and process-driven solutions, and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead data privacy and security discussions with policymakers in Europe, the U.S. and Africa.
  • Advised the global head of Information Security, the CPO, customers and government officials on strategic initiatives-including cyber-security and mobile device security.

Kristy has a background in database and network security. She was the product manager for Oracle Database Security and has expertise in software development in database authentication, access controls, encryption and auditing. Previously she was the product manager for Oracle Advanced Security, in which she honed her skills in strong authentication, single sign-on, PKI and network encryption. She constructed the company's positioning on privacy in Oracle's product stack.

Kristy has presented to audiences large and small at RSA, IAPP, PLI, Executive Women's Forum for Information Security, Risk Management & Privacy, and at many Oracle Open World conferences. Kristy has a bachelor's degree from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, and she holds two patents in database security. When she's not hard at work, she's hard at play with her husband and two young children, rock climbing, camping, or exploring the finer restaurants of San Francisco in search of the best macaroni and cheese.
