Kristen Donoghue

Kristen serves as the Principal Deputy Enforcement Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.  In that capacity, she assists the CFPB Enforcement Director in managing the Office of Enforcement, including the initiation and resolution of investigations across all of the Bureau’s litigation teams and coordination with senior colleagues inside and outside the Bureau on strategic planning and policy issues.  Kristen joined the CFPB in April 2011 during the stand-up and implementation phase of the agency.  Prior to assuming the role of Principal Deputy, Kristen held several positions in the Office of Enforcement, including Assistant Litigation Deputy and Deputy Enforcement Director for Policy and Strategy.

Before joining the Bureau, Kristen practiced law at Hogan Lovells, focusing on commercial litigation, insurance and securities law.  Kristen also served on the clinical faculty of American University’s Washington College of Law as a Practitioner-in-Residence in the Law School’s Civil Practice Clinic.

Kristen holds at B.A., magna cum laude, from Georgetown University and a J.D., cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School.  After graduating from law school, Kristen served as a judicial clerk for the late Judge Fred I. Parker on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
