Ken W. Muller represents private equity funds, real estate opportunity funds, infrastructure funds, timber funds, private REITs, debt and mezzanine debt funds, leveraged buyout funds, joint ventures, and funds-of-funds in all aspects of their enterprises. His practice emphasizes the formation, organization and operation of limited partnerships, limited liability companies, corporations and REITs, as well as joint ventures, large U.S. and cross-border portfolio acquisitions and dispositions and other types of transactions related to real estate investment funds and REITs. He has represented some of the largest and well-known sponsors of private equity and real estate opportunity funds and currently serves as Co-Chair of the Private Equity Fund Group at Morrison & Foerster LLP. Mr. Muller is a member of the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA) and has been named by Institutional Investor as a Rising Star in Private Equity. He has served on the Advisory Board of "Private Equity Partnership Terms and Conditions" published by Dow Jones/The Private Equity Analyst and the Advisory Board of the "PE/VC Partnership Agreements Study" published by Thomson Reuters. He has written and lectured on private equity, fund formation, real estate, tax and securities issues. He has co-authored definitive guides on fund formation and operation, private placement memoranda and LLC agreements, including chapters published in the treatise, "Venture Capital & Public Offering Negotiation" (Aspen Law & Business, 3d Ed.) Mr. Muller graduated from University of California, Hastings College of the Law, in 1992, where he received the American Jurisprudence Award in Legal Writing and served as a law clerk/extern to the Honorable John P. Vukasin, United States District Court, Northern District of California. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1988 where he completed a double major in English Literature and Legal Studies and four seasons as a member of California Crew. Mr. Muller is also a member of the Real Estate Section and Business Section of the State Bar of California. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, and the U.S. District Courts, Central, Eastern, Northern and Southern Districts of California.
