Kenneth M. Jacobson is a Partner in the Real Estate Department in the Chicago office of Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP.  His practice focuses on a wide range of commercial real estate finance and equity investment transactions.  Mr. Jacobson is a member of the American Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association, a Full Private Member of the Urban Land Institute and a Fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers.  Mr. Jacobson has frequently written and lectured on a variety of real estate-related topics including, fiduciary duties, limited liability companies and other non-corporate entities, distressed property transactions, preferred equity and mezzanine debt investments and attorneys’ opinions in real estate transactions. He is a past President of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers and has served as chair of the Investment Entity Committee  of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, chair of the Legal Opinions in Real Estate Transactions Committee of the Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section of the American Bar Association and President of the Chicago Mortgage Attorneys Association. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Working Group on Legal Opinions Foundation and co-chair of the  Joint Committee on Legal Opinion Practices of the Working Group on Legal Opinions Foundation and Business Law Section Legal Opinions Committee working on an update of the Legal Opinion Principles and selected portions of the Opinion Letter Guidelines adopted by the Legal Opinions Committee of the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association.   Mr. Jacobson received his J.D. from Stanford Law School in 1979 and his B.A. from the University of Illinois in 1976.
