Kathryn Marshall Ali

Kathryn Ali is an associate in our Washington, D.C. office, advising clients on complex civil litigation matters at the trial and appellate level. Kathryn has considerable experience with class actions, and litigates in a broad range of areas, including products liability, mass torts, litigation under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and other federal statutes, contract disputes, and trademark and copyright claims.

Kathryn is also a major contributor to the firm's pro bono practice, litigating civil rights cases that have received national recognition. She is currently serving as the firm's senior associate-in-charge of U.S. pro bono. Kathryn has worked on numerous capital cases involving extensive proceedings in both state and federal court, including the U.S. Supreme Court.

Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Kathryn served as a law clerk to The Honorable Robert G. Doumar of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

  • Representation of international cruise line in ongoing litigation arising from accident in Italy.
  • Representation of major insurance company in putative class action arising out of recently enacted regulatory schemes.
  • Representation of a major food and beverage company against a competitor for false and misleading advertising under the Lanham Act and related state statutes.
