Karl Kronenberger dedicates his entire practice to issues relating to Internet law, media, and technology. Karl brings his experience as a former prosecutor and experience litigating complicated technology issues to matters involving data security and privacy.

A seasoned litigator, Karl has tried more than 20 jury trials and many more bench trials, and he regularly handles complex technology and Internet law issues, such as data breach litigation defense, privacy disputes, hacking matters, lawsuits brought by the FTC and other regulators, and a variety of technology-related IP issues.  Karl thrives on litigating matters where the legal terrain is uncharted, as is often the case in the realm of Internet disputes.

As a former general counsel to technology companies, he has handled a variety of data security issues, including developing cyber-security protocols, responding to data breaches, and investigating unauthorized access to company servers.  Additionally, he handles a variety of transactions and business disputes for services, technology, and media companies.

A former prosecutor and Army JAG Corps officer, he is both aggressive and creative in solving problems and coordinating with law enforcement on data security issues, while maintaining the highest of ethical standards.  Notable representative matters in the areas of data breach and hacking include U.S. Chess Federation v. Polgar, et al., 3:08-CV-05126, District Court for the Northern District of California, and Second Image, Inc. v. Ronsin Photocopy, Inc., et al., C-07-05242, District Court for the Northern District of California, with both cases resulting in criminal indictments for unlawful access.

Karl is frequently called upon as an Internet law expert by the media and at industry conferences.  Karl is Co-Chair of the Cyberspace Law Committee of the California Bar, and Karl is a co-founder of the Internet Law Leadership Summit. 

Karl is licensed to practice in California, New York, Georgia, and Ohio and before the District Courts for the Northern, Central, and Southern Districts of California, District Court for the Southern District of New York, District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the Bar Association of San Francisco.

He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame (1990) and the University of Cincinnati College of Law (1993).
