KARL KIESLICH has over 20 years of public accounting experience with Ernst & Young (EY), serving clients in the technology, retail, distribution, and manufacturing industries, and is the West Sub-Area Leader for Financial Accounting Advisory Services.

Prior to his current role, Karl spent four years as a key member of EY’s Global Technology Center, where he worked with numerous account teams in the technology industry including HP, Intel, Oracle, and Google, assisting with various accounting issues and knowledge sharing.  During his time in EY’s Global Technology Center, he coordinated EY’s technology industry’s global IFRS and accounting convergence initiatives, working with teams across the globe to address emerging IFRS conversion and accounting issues.  He was also instrumental in the development of industry-based publications on issues including revenue recognition, accounting policies, IFRS and accounting convergence.

Karl has assisted a variety technology companies with their revenue recognition for multiple-element arrangements and for transactions that are covered by the applicable software guidance.  This includes helping companies with evaluate the implications of the proposed revenue exposure draft.

In addition to his accounting convergence experience, Karl’s relevant strengths lie in his extensive experience with SEC clients and filings, including bond offerings, initial public offerings, SEC comment letters and SEC investigations.  Karl has significant experience with dealing with a variety of complex accounting issues, including revenue recognition, business combinations, stock-based compensation, lease accounting, vendor consideration, and gross versus net revenue reporting.

Karl is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a B.S. in Finance and a Master’s of Accountancy.  He is a CPA licensed in California, North Carolina and South Carolina, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and California Society of CPAs.
