Joseph S. Gacula is an associate attorney at Murphy, Vu, Thongsamouth & Chatterjee, LLP (MVTC), and focuses on all aspects of family law including dissolution of marriage, child custody and visitation, child support, and spousal support.

Joseph started working for MVTC as a summer law clerk in 2010. Prior to joining MVTC, Joseph was an extern for the San Mateo County Family Law Facilitator’s Office during his first two years at law school. He assisted low income “Pro Pers” who were going through the dissolution process and prepared restraining orders for survivors of domestic violence. Joseph was admitted to the California State Bar in December 2009. Once he started working for MVTC, he was confident that he had found his calling in the practice of Family Law.

Joseph obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco – School of Law in 2009, where he also competed for the school’s Advanced Advocacy Competition Environmental Negotiations Team. Joseph obtained his undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley in 2005 with distinction. Joseph continues to be active in his community: He has served as one of the Mock Trials coaches for his high school alma mater, and he also volunteers and coordinates legal clinics held in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has served as the Legal Clinics Director and Operations Director for the Filipino Bar Association of Northern California. Joseph has also served as Secretary and Vice Chair for the Family Law Executive Committee of the Alameda County Bar Association. When not working, Joseph enjoys playing basketball and honing his cooking skills.
