Joe Daniel joined ITT Exelis in December 1999. He is a senior financial executive with 30 years of government business operations and contract accounting compliance experience. His current responsibilities include leading financial shared services, corporate level government contract accounting compliance, acquisition financial integration, and accounting systems conversions.

In 2007, Mr. Daniel led the development of the business plan and business model for the company's successful 2007 Automatic Dependence Surveillance - Broadcast (ADS-B) bid to the FAA. This system is the key building block of the next generation of air traffic control utilizing GPS and ground station radios to deliver a lower cost, more accurate and more frequent updating of aircraft positional information, versus current terrestrial radar systems.  ITT Exelis' ADS-B team was selected by the National Aeronautic Association to receive the 2007 Robert J. Collier Trophy. Established in 1911, the Collier Trophy is one of the most prestigious awards granted in the aviation industry and is awarded annually "for the greatest achievement in aeronautics or astronautics in America." Additionally, Mr. Daniel, as part of the ADS-B team, was also awarded the Harold S. Geneen Award, ITT Corporation's highest employee honor.

From 2002 to 2005, Mr. Daniel was the Director of Internal Audit for ITT Corporation worldwide and led the company's successful 2004 inaugural Sarbanes-Oxley compliance efforts.

Mr. Daniel began his work in industry with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), moving on to Stanford Telecommunications and ultimately becoming its Systems Integration Group's Vice President of Administration and Finance. Stanford Telecommunications' government business was acquired by ITT in December 1999.

Mr. Daniel holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from George Mason University. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Management from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (VPI&SU, aka Virginia Tech).
