Jonathan Forrest is a Principal in Deloitte Tax’s Washington National Tax office.  He has over 20 years of experience practicing in all areas of Federal corporate taxation, in particular, advising on transactional tax planning, including the structuring and financing of corporate acquisitions and dispositions, and advising on corporate restructurings.  In addition, Jonathan has extensive experience advising taxpayers filing consolidated returns, and restructuring troubled companies, both in and out of bankruptcy.

Jonathan practices extensively before the Internal Revenue Service, and has obtained favorable rulings on a variety of Federal corporate, consolidated return, and S corporation issues. 

Jonathan is very active in bar related activities, and is the former Chair of the Affiliated and Related Committee of the ABA Tax Section.  He regularly speaks on consolidated return and corporate tax issues before the ABA Tax Section, the PLI Consolidated Tax Return program, the Federal Bar Association, and the DC Bar Association.

From 1995 to 1997, Jonathan served as an Attorney-Advisor in the Office of Tax Policy of the Treasury Department where he advised the Assistant Secretary of the Treasury (Tax Policy) on legal issues in the context of tax legislation and administration. 

Jonathan graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1991 and cum laude from Boston University School of Law in 1994.
