Jon Pittman joined the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia as a Section Chief in the Civil Litigation Division in September 2012. Attorneys in the Civil Litigation Division defend the District of Columbia and its agencies and employees in hundreds of cases that are brought every year, including common-law tort claims arising out of auto accidents, slips and falls and medical malpractice, constitutional and related common-law challenges to alleged misconduct by police or other District employees, employment-discrimination claims brought under Title VII and related federal and local statutes, claims brought under the DC Whistleblower Protection Act, and other similar claims.

Before he joined the Office of the Attorney General, Jon was a partner in the international law firm of Crowell & Moring LLP, where he practiced insurance coverage, products liability defense and general commercial litigation for twenty one years. Jon began his legal career as a law clerk to the Honorable John A. Terry of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.

Jon is a graduate of Vassar College and Vanderbilt University School of Law. He is a member of the bars of the District of Columbia and the State of New York.
