Jon Balcom is an Assistant Director with the Office of International Affairs of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.  His focus is on international regulatory policy issues, including the Commission’s engagement with various international organizations and participation in bilateral dialogues.  He joined the Office of International Affairs from the Office of Market Supervision of the Division of Trading and Markets.

Prior to joining the Commission, Jon was an associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton in New York where he advised multinational clients in cross-border insolvency and M & A matters.  He received a J.D. degree from New York University School of Law and an undergraduate degree from Georgetown University.  Jon was a Fulbright scholar in Bogotá, Colombia from 2003 to 2004.  He is a member of the Bar in New York.
