John C. Millian is a partner in Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP in Washington, D.C. His practice emphasizes securities, attorney malpractice, antitrust, financial institutions, and other commercial litigation involving complex financial, securities, accounting, and economics issues. He has handled federal and state court cases in approximately twenty-five states and has argued appeals in six of the twelve federal courts of appeals nationwide. His securities litigation practice includes the representation of issuers, directors and officers, underwriters, accounting firms, law firms, and broker-dealers in securities class action lawsuits, as well as in related derivative litigation and government investigations. He represents companies and board members in litigation challenging merger and acquisition transactions, and represents board committees in internal corporate investigations. In addition, he provides securities disclosure advice and D&O insurance counseling to clients. His education includes a B.A. in econo mics with highest honors from the University of California at Berkeley and a J.D. from Yale Law School. Prior to entering private practice, he served as law clerk to U.S. District Judge Gerhard A. Gesell in Washington, D.C. He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, California, and Washington State.
