John Burgett is a partner in the Washington, D.C. law firm of Wiley Rein LLP where he represents radio and television broadcasters before the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on a wide variety of regulatory matters including: station construction and licensing, facilities modifications, technical and interference issues, compliance with FCC multiple ownership and attribution rules, foreign ownership, children's television, political broadcasting, content issues, station contests and other FCC regulations affecting day-to-day station operations. John also represents buyers, sellers, financial institutions and investors in broadcast transactional matters, including the structuring of transactions, due diligence and the negotiation and completion of station acquisitions and financing.

A New Mexico native, John received his undergraduate degree in journalism (with honors) from New Mexico State University. Upon graduation, John attended Syracuse University where he earned both his law degree (magna cum laude) and a Master of Science degree in television-radio-film.
