John F. Kuckelman is Assistant General Counsel at Eli Lilly and Company and is transitioning to the position of General Counsel, Asian Operations, based in Hong Kong.  During 2011 and 2012, John's focus has been to use the Lean Six Sigma methodology, adopted company-wide by Lilly approximately six years ago, to improve the efficiency and quality of legal operations. From 2008 to 2011, John was Lilly's Global Anti-Corruption Counsel. In that role, he helped design and implement Lilly's enhanced Global Anti-Corruption Program and gave ongoing legal counsel regarding anti-corruption issues, including internal investigations.  Before joining Lilly in August 2007, John was a partner at Shook, Hardy & Bacon in Kansas City, Missouri, where he focused his practice on defending pharmaceutical companies in litigation in federal and state courts throughout the United States. John graduated from the Notre Dame Law School, magna cum laude, in 1999.  John studied international law at Notre Dame's London Law Centre from 1997-98. From 1995-96, John was a Rotary Ambassadorial Fellow at Eberhard-Karls Universitaet Tuebingen, in Tuebingen, Germany, where he was engaged in graduate studies in government and history. He earned his B.A. from Washburn University in 1994.
