Jodi Remke

California Fair Political Practices Commission
Chair
Sacramento, CA, USA

Chair Remke was appointed by Governor Brown in 2014. As Chair, she provides overall policy direction and acts as the presiding officer of the Commission. In addition to several record years of enforcement actions, the Commission has focused on shining a light on dark money by prohibiting laundered campaign contributions, increasing disclosure of lobbying activity and the influence of special interest groups, and enhancing transparency through technology.

From 2000 to 2014, Chair Remke served both as a trial judge and then the Presiding Judge of the California State Bar Court. The court hears attorney disciplinary and regulatory cases. While at the court, Remke helped modify procedures to increase the court's efficiency and improve public protection, create performance standards on timeliness and productivity, and initiate a program for attorneys with substance abuse or mental health problems to reduce recidivism, thereby decreasing client harm while saving judicial resources.

Prior to her judicial career, Chair Remke served as counsel to the California Senate Judiciary Committee, practiced real estate law with Miller, Starr and Regalia in Oakland, and was a Vista attorney with Montana Legal Services.
