Jennifer Tatel joins Wilkinson Barker Knauer LLP from the Federal Communications Commission where she most recently served as Acting General Counsel. In that capacity, Ms. Tatel was responsible for the provision of legal and policy advice to the Chairman, Commissioners, Bureaus and Offices on all items under their consideration. In addition, Ms. Tatel maintained primary responsibility for the development of all legal advice related to fiscal, ethics, procurement, and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) law, as well as the overall management of the personnel and workload within OGC.

Prior to joining the Office of General Counsel, Ms. Tatel was Legal Advisor to Commissioner Meredith Attwell Baker, where she advised the Commissioner on media and consumer protection issues. She joined the FCC as Chief of the Media Bureau's Industry Analysis Division, where she was responsible for managing a staff of over 30 attorneys, economists, and other professionals. Under her leadership, the Division addressed a variety of issues, including large media mergers, video competition issues, and media ownership limitations.

Ms. Tatel is a member of the Federal Communications Bar Association, where she has previously served as a member of the Executive Committee. She is also a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals.

Before joining the FCC, Ms. Tatel practiced communications and privacy law at a large Washington, D.C. law firm. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Tatel worked as a social worker for the District of Columbia's Child & Family Services Agency. She received her B.S. in Psychology from the University of Illinois, her M.S. in Social Work from Columbia University, and her J.D., magna cum laude, from George Washington University Law School, where she was a member of The George Washington Law Review, Order of the Coif, and a Dean’s Fellow.
