Jeffrey T. Rodrick is a Special Counsel in the Financial Institutions and Products (FIP) division of the IRS Office of Chief Counsel.  Jeff joined the FIP division in July 2017 and works on any matters within the jurisdiction of the Associate Chief Counsel (FIP), including the taxation of derivative financial instruments, banks, and insurance companies.  Prior to coming to FIP, Jeff served as a Special Counsel in the Office’s Income Tax and Accounting (ITA) division.  In ITA for over 11 years, Jeff worked on a variety of subjects, including general tax timing rules and methods of accounting, capitalization of costs and cost recovery, realization and recognition of gains and losses from the sale or other disposition of property, like-kind exchanges, qualified settlement funds, and the substantiation of business expenses.  Most recently Jeff assisted extensively with the development and implementation of guidance under numerous provisions of the Affordable Care Act as they relate to individuals, including the individual shared responsibility payment and the premium tax credit.

Prior to joining the IRS, Jeff worked in KPMG LLP’s Washington National Tax office specializing in income and transfer tax planning for high net worth individuals.

Jeff earned a J.D. and LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida.  Jeff also holds a B.S.B.A. in Economics from the University of Florida.

Jeff is a member of The Florida Bar.
