Jeff Minton is Chief Counsel for the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s Office of the Chief Accountant.  Jeff provides legal counsel to the Chief Accountant and the Commission on all legal and policy aspects involving accounting and financial reporting matters as well as matters relating to the accounting profession.  Jeff served in a number of roles in his tenure at the Commission prior to joining the Office of the Chief Accountant, including as Counsel to Chairman William H. Donaldson, Senior Special Counsel in the Office of the General Counsel, and Special Rulemaking Counsel in the Division of Corporation Finance during implementation of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.  Prior to joining the Commission, Mr. Minton was an associate with Thompson Hine LLP in Cincinnati where he focused on securities law and asset-backed securitization.  Mr. Minton received his law degree (magna cum laude) from Harvard Law School and his undergraduate degree (summa cum laude) in Economics from The Ohio State University, where he also graduated with honors in the liberal arts.
