Jeffrey Burstein is a Supervisory Trial Attorney with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in the New York District Office. From late 2013 through March 2014, he served as Acting Director of the EEOC Newark Office. He has litigated employment discrimination cases since coming to EEOC in 2007, often involving class claims, in federal district court in New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts and Connecticut.

Before joining EEOC, he held various legal and administrative positions with the State of New Jersey. He was an Assistant Attorney General supervising attorneys in the areas of civil rights, consumer fraud, securities fraud, and professional regulation. He also served as Acting Director of the State Division on Civil Rights, and Acting Director of the Division of Consumer Affairs.

He is a contributor to Employment Litigation in New Jersey (Matthew Bender 2006), writing the chapter on practice and procedure before the Division on Civil Rights.

He is a graduate of Rutgers-Newark Law School and Columbia College.
