Jeanne H. Schroeder is a Senior Manager based in Ernst & Young LLP’s  Hartford, Connecticut office and specializes in multi-state property tax and real estate transfer tax.  Jeanne is based in the Northeast, but has experience in most states across and this experience includes real and personal property valuation and taxability, appeals, audit management, training, compliance & reporting, research and planning, settlements, credits and incentives research and review as well as legislative review. Jeanne has over 25 years of experience in state and local indirect taxes, with her primary focus on property taxation.  She brings knowledge from a myriad of perspectives having owned her own property tax consulting firm, working in the manufacturing industry and serving as a local practice leader for one of the main accounting firms.  Jeanne also has extensive training and experience on process improvement methodologies.

During her years in industry, Jeanne led the property tax practice of a $60B multinational conglomerate and built the property tax practice from an entirely decentralized process to a 6 person centralized function. In this role, she managed all aspects of property tax compliance, real and personal property valuation review, property tax payments, audits, planning, real estate transfer tax, credits and incentives review and technology for 6 diverse business units encompassing 100+ US legal entities.  In addition, she was one of the department leads responsible for process improvements both internally as well as with outside consultants. Jeanne has personal experience with the valuation and taxation of both real and personal property and has represented the following types of properties:  manufacturing, aerospace, leasing companies, retail, telecommunications, real estate companies, commercial, utilities, food service, residential, financial services, planned unit developments and recreational facilities.
