James Segel serves as special Counsel to Congressman Barney Frank, Chairman of the Committee of Financial Services. Congressman Frank asked Mr. Segel to join him after being elected Chairman of the Committee. Mr. Segel splits his time between Massachusetts and Washington. He grew up in Brookline, graduated from Harvard College, the Kennedy School of Government with an MPA and received his JD from Boston College Law School. He served in the Massachusetts Legislature as a Representative from Brookline; headed the Massachusetts Municipal Association in the years following the adoption of Proposition 21/2, was of counsel at Hale and Dorr for nine years and was a partner and founder of his own law firm for eight years before joining Congressman Frank in 2007.
