Ida Abbott Consulting LLC helps employers manage, develop, and advance talented lawyers. We work with professional service firms, corporations, and professional associations worldwide to prepare leaders, improve performance and talent retention, and enhance workplace relations. Our services include consultation, training, meeting and retreat facilitation, and individual and team coaching. 

Ida Abbott, President of the firm, is an internationally recognized leader in the field of lawyers' professional and career development and is a Fellow of the College of Law Practice Management. Ida operates the Professional Development Roundtable for Global Law Firms, a forum for the chief professional development officers of multinational law firms. She has served as Vice-Chair of the Academic and Professional Development Committee of the International Bar Association, and was a co-founder and board member of the Professional Development Consortium, an international association dedicated to in-house professional development of lawyers.

For many years, Ida has been at the forefront of efforts to promote women in the legal profession. She is author of Women on Top: The Woman's Guide to Leadership and Power in Law Firms (Thomson Reuters, 2010), and co-founder and Director of the Hastings Leadership Academy for Women (http://www.pardc.org/LAW/) at the University of California Hastings Law School, where she is a Faculty Fellow. She is Bay Area co-Chair of the Women in Law Empowerment Forum (www.wilef.org), leads a Roundtable for Women Managing Partners, and serves on the Advisory Board of the New York Women's Bar Association Foundation. 

Ida has authored many articles and resource materials, and several highly acclaimed books, including The Lawyer's Guide to Mentoring and Lawyers' Professional Development: The Legal Employer's Comprehensive Guide. She has been a columnist for Diversity & the Bar Magazine and serves on the Editorial Board of www.WomeninLaw.com. Her electronic newsletter, Management Solutions, can be found on the firm's website, www.IdaAbbott.com. Ida has been featured and quoted in numerous publications and is a popular speaker at national and international professional conferences. 

Before starting her consulting practice in 1995, Ida practiced law for twenty years. She specialized in complex litigation at a large international law firm, acted as a private and court-appointed mediator and arbitrator, and presided over jury trials as a judge pro tempore for the San Francisco Superior Court. Ida has served as Chair of the Bar Association of San Francisco Law Practice Management Section, on the Executive Committee of the State Bar of California Law Practice Management and Technology Section, and on the State Bar of California Committee on Women in the Law. 

Ida holds an A.B. from Smith College, an M.A. from the University of Miami, and a J.D. from Hastings College of the Law.
