The Honorable William O’Brien is a Nassau County District Court judge who also serves as an Acting County Court Judge.  A graduate of Fordham University and St. John’s University School of Law, Judge O’Brien began his career as a private practitioner handling civil and criminal litigation.  In 1984, he left private practice to become Law Secretary to Hon. Stuart Ain, County Court Judge and Acting Supreme CourtJustice.  Prior to his appointment to the District Court, Judge O’Brien also served as Executive Assistant to Nassau County Administrative Judge Edward McCabe. In that capacity, he was the administrator responsible for all New York State Courts located within Nassau County.

Judge O’Brien is currently assigned to the Nassau County HumanTrafficking Intervention part of the District Court and has served as a fulltime County Court Judge presiding in the felony Sex Offense and DomesticViolence Part.
