            The Honorable Daniel G. Martin is a United States Magistrate Judge for the Northern District of Illinois. He graduated from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1985, and received his undergraduate degree from DePaul University in 1981.  Immediately following graduation, Judge Martin became a Staff Attorney with the Law Offices of the Federal Defender Program for the Northern District of Illinois. 

           There, he tried in excess of sixty federal criminal jury trials and argued in excess of forty cases before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.  He also served as Director of Continuing Legal Education, and as a member of the CJA (Criminal Justice Act) Panel Attorney Selection Committee for the Northern District of Illinois.  In 2002, he created and administered the Federal Defender Program’s Summer Trial Skills Institute.  

          Judge Martin practiced exclusively in federal court before being appointed as a Federal Magistrate Judge in 2012.  He remains very involved in the legal community and serves as an Adjunct Faculty Member at Chicago-Kent College of Law, teaching several courses on Trial Advocacy.  He is a member of the Federal Bar Association.  He remains active as a volunteer with Muscular Dystrophy Association of America and Association of Horizon, both organizations serving men and women with physical and developmental disabilities.
