Judge Carol Stokinger was appointed to the Family Court in 2000 and was re-appointed in February of 2010. She is currently the Supervising Judge of Queens County Family Court.

From 1977 until her appointment to the bench, she was an Assistant District Attorney in the New York County District Attorney’s Office in the Trial Division, where she spent much of her career as Chief of the Family Violence and Child Abuse Bureau. During that time she was a member of numerous task forces and organizations involving domestic violence and child abuse, including the New York City Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect and the Family Court Advisory Council.

Judge Stokinger has appeared as a guest speaker or panelist on issues involving domestic violence and child abuse and has trained police, medical professionals, judges, court personnel and lawyers in the area of domestic violence and child abuse. She is currently a member of the New York State Permanent Judicial Commission on Justice for Children.
