Heather Burnett Gold serves as Senior Vice President of External Affairs at XO Communications, a leading nationwide provider of advanced communications services and solutions for businesses, enterprises, government, carriers and service providers.  As the senior executive overseeing all issues related to external affairs at XO, Gold creates and executes a comprehensive public policy strategy for the $1.5 billion national telecommunications company, including regularly interacting with Congress, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the White House and state legislative and regulatory entities across the 75 markets in which XO operates. Gold is also responsible for the development and implementation of the company's Cost of Service strategy including vendor selection and management for an approximately $600M annual budget.

Gold has over 25 years of experience in the industry including serving as a principal at The KDW Group, VP of Industry for Intermedia Communications and as President for the Association for Local Telecommunications Services (ALTS) during the period surrounding the passage and implementation of the Telecommunications Act of 1996.

Gold received her BA (magna cum laude) and MA degrees in Economics from Tufts University in 1976.  She received her MBA in Finance and Marketing from Washington University in St. Louis in 1980. Gold also completed the General Management Program of the Harvard Business School in 2010.
