Harvey Westbrook is the Assistant Director of the Office of Research and Data Services (ORDS) in the Division of Economic and Risk Analysis. ORDS develops and supports models used by staff across the SEC to evaluate and monitor investment advisors, mutual funds, hedge funds, and broker dealers.  ORDS initiatives are building analytics that will enable SEC staff to more broadly monitor registrants across financial sectors. His areas of specialization include mutual funds, hedge funds, exchange traded funds, algorithmic trading practices, and high frequency trading. From 2008 to 2010, Harvey was a Senior Financial Economist in the SEC’s Office of Risk Assessment and held the position of financial economist in the Office of Economic Analysis from 2000 to 2006.  In between, he worked for a private firm.  Harvey received his bachelor degree in economics and managerial studies from Rice University, a M.S. in economics, a M.S. in applied statistics, and a Ph.D. in economics all from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
