Glenn Smith is the Chief of the Enforcement Division within the Office of Compliance, Directorate for Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) within the Bureau, Political Military Affairs, Department of State. The Office of Compliance is responsible for overseeing defense industry compliance with the laws and regulations governing the export of defense articles, technical data, brokering and related defense services through commercial channels. The Enforcement Division supports the Departments of Justice, the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI with investigations and enforcement actions related to potential criminal violations of the Arms Export Control Act (AECA) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Glenn joined the Office in April 2006.

From 1996 to 2006, Glenn worked in various senior export controls management positions within the defense industry.

From 1992 to 1996, Glenn was a Naval Officer assigned by the DoD to the Arms Licensing Division, Office of Defense Trade Controls, Department of State where he reviewed export license requests on a broad range of defense commodities. Glenn Retired from the Navy 1996.

Glenn graduated from Northern Arizona University.
