Dr. Stevick is registered as a Professional Engineer in the states of CA, NV, TX, and LA and the founder and president of Berkeley Engineering And Research, Inc., (BEAR).  He has 25 years of experience in numerical analysis, product development, and managing engineering teams assessing the design of new structures (structural health management) and designing fixes for failed structured that must be brought back into service quickly.  Design projects have included dampers for the Golden Gate Bridge (the retrofit project won the ASCE Opal award in 2007); a 75 ft tall, rotating, phased array antenna for the US Army, electro-hydraulic drive systems for climbing wheelchairs and burn victim hospital beds; damping devices for tall structures and bridges subject to wind and earthquake loading; and data transmission equipment for MRI machines.  Analysis and retrofit projects have included a fracture analysis and fracture control plan for the Alaska pipeline, nuclear submarine drive system component redesigns for the US Navy; drive system and bearing redesigns for the Milwaukee Stadium roof for Mitsubishi; and the analysis and the redesign of high temperature/high pressure piping and pressure vessels for fluidized catalytic cracking plants for Chevron, Aramco and Texaco.  Dr. Stevick has managed the development of numerous software programs such as DrumSoft© for analyzing pressure vessel laser scan cloud and predicting remaining life; HVAC-t© to model, monitor and control facility HVAC systems; CitySAFE© to predict air and contaminant flow through a city in real time; GasFlow© for piping networks; BEARFlange© for automated finite element analysis of piping and structural flanges.  These programs were funded by Pacific Gas & Electric, the Welding Research Council, and Chevron Corporation among others.  He has testified in court regarding design and risk assessment in the BP Deepwater Horizon Blowout in the Gulf and GM ignition switch cases.
