Glen Schaeffer is a Deputy General Counsel and a Principal of Deloitte LLP. As Deputy General Counsel, Mr. Schaeffer has responsibility for engagement and related matters. This includes the negotiation and preparation of client engagement agreements, licensing agreements, alliance agreements and vendor contracts, the handling of issues associated with intellectual property law, privacy law, and bankruptcy law (such as retentions and fee applications), and counseling regarding advertising, marketing materials, and client proposals. In addition, Mr. Schaeffer was instrumental in developing the legal framework for Deloitte LLP’s pro bono program. From 1985 until he joined a predecessor of Deloitte LLP in 1989, Mr. Schaeffer was Vice President and General Counsel of Western Union Corporation. Between 1978 and 1985, he held various positions in Western Union’s legal department. He started his career with Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, with which he was associated from 1973 to 1978. Mr. Schaeffer has served as an officer and a director of the Paramus, N.J. Babe Ruth Baseball League since 1995. In addition, he has sponsored the participation of Deloitte LLP’s Office of General Counsel in the Legal Outreach Summer Internship Program. Legal Outreach prepares urban youth from underserved communities in New York City to compete at high academic levels by using intensive legal and educational programs as tools for developing skills, enhancing confidence, and facilitating the pursuit of higher education. Mr. Schaeffer graduated from New York University School of Law (J.D., cum laude, 1973) where he was an Associate Editor of the Law Review and from Baruch College (B.B.A., cum laude, 1969).
