Gena Diacomanolis joined Safe Horizon in 2006 as Senior Director for the Staten Island Child Advocacy Center and became the Senior Director of the Jane Barker Brooklyn Child Advocacy Center in 2008.  Prior to joining Safe Horizon, Ms. Diacomanolis was a litigation associate for the law firm of Riker Danzig Scherer Hyland Perretti, LLP, where she concentrated her practice in family law matters.  Upon her graduation from law school, Ms. Diacomanolis served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Craig Randall Harris, Superior Court of New Jersey, Chancery Division, Family Part, Essex County.  Ms. Diacomanolis received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Women’s Studies from Connecticut College, and her Juris Doctorate degree from Seton Hall University School of Law.  No longer a practicing attorney, Ms. Diacomanolis now oversees one of the largest Child Advocacy Centers in the country, serving over 2,000 child abuse victims each year.  Ms. Diacomanolis is trained in forensic interviewing of children and trains in the area of child abuse and the child advocacy response, and the investigation of commercial sexual exploitation of children and child trafficking through child advocacy centers.  She serves on the Joint Brooklyn Human Trafficking Task Force; on the Advisory Council of the New York State Office of Victims Services; and on the Board of the New York State Children’s Alliance, Inc. as an executive member; and is a member of the National Children’s Alliance Urban CAC Leadership Conference.
