Gabriella originally worked at Her Justice as a Staff Attorney from 2003-2005, returning in 2007 where she has held increasingly responsible positions over the last 10 years.  Currently Associate Director, Legal Services, Gabriella supervises the Urgent Legal Care Attorney, the pro bono Coordinators and a full-time extern.  While maintaining a caseload of approximately 50 complex family law and matrimonial matters as mentor to volunteer attorneys throughout New York City, Gabriella also overseas placement of clients with pro bono attorneys and acts as liaison between pro bono partner law firms and Her Justice on issues of placement and law firm involvement.

Gabriella began her legal career as Court Attorney to the Hon. Philip C. Segal in Kings County Family Court. After a brief period in private practice, Gabriella has devoted the remainder of her career to assisting poor and indigent populations at various legal services and pro bono organizations in New York City. She was the Family Law Coordinator at the Brooklyn Bar Association’s Volunteer Lawyers Project, where she matched Family Court and matrimonial litigants with local solo practitioners in Brooklyn and provided mentoring and supervisory support to volunteers as wells as providing direct services to clients in family and matrimonial law.  As Director of Matrimonial Programs at City Bar Justice Center, the legal services arm of the New York City Bar Association, she oversaw divorce projects and clinics, supervised in-house staff and provided brief services, advice and counsel to litigants referred by the City Bar Justice Center’s Legal Hotline.  As a consultant for the Incarcerated Mothers Law Project at Volunteers of Legal Service, Gabriella supervised volunteer attorneys assisting female inmates at 3 area prisons with issues involving visitation and parental rights.

Gabriella has been appointed to the Second Department Law Guardian appellate panel where she was assigned to represent adult and child litigants involved as Appellants or Respondents in appeals from Family Court matters. She is currently a member of the Supreme Court Neutral Evaluation Panel, where she provides expert opinions to litigants in contentious divorce litigation.

Gabriella graduated with a B.A. in Medieval and Renaissance Studies from New York University and obtained her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1993.
