Felipe was named Chief Compliance Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for GE Global Research (GEGR) in April 2012.  He partners with management to prevent, detect, and respond to potentially disruptive legal, regulatory, and internal policy violations. The GEGR compliance program is particularly focused on programmatic approaches to preventing the loss of GE proprietary information.  Felipe is the executive Business Champion for the Hispanic Forum, the co-chair of the GE Legal Diversity and Inclusion Council, and an active member of the GE Veteran’s Forum.

Felipe hails originally from Bogotá, Colombia.  He has more than 19 years of worldwide experience as a leader and senior attorney addressing a broad range of compliance, litigation, and business matters.  He joined GE from Dell, Inc. where he was the company’s Chief Investigations Counsel and Director of Compliance for their Public (government customer) business.

Prior to Dell, Felipe’s career transitioned from General Counsel for a management development firm in Maryland, to a U.S. Marine Judge Advocate and International Affairs Officer, and later a litigation attorney focusing on director’s and officer’s liability.  As a government lawyer Felipe served in a variety of roles including general counsel, criminal litigation, investigations, and leadership of legal engagement programs with more than 20 governments in Latin America, Africa, Southeast Asia, Central Asia, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe, working with senior officials on improvements to their legal and operational infrastructures.  He was also an Adjunct Professor of Operational Law for the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, RI and an Adjunct Professor of International Law at Roger Williams University School of Law in Bristol, RI.  As a reservist, Felipe deployed to Haiti in 2010 as the head of operational compliance for Unified Response, the largest ever U.S.-led humanitarian operation.

Felipe is fluent in Spanish and has a working knowledge of French and Portuguese.  He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Michigan and a Juris Doctor from Pace University School of Law.
