Erin R. Schrantz is a partner in the Firm’s Litigation Department and a member of the Complex Commercial Litigation, Communications and Class Action Practices. Ms. Schrantz is the Vice-Chair of the Women's Forum Steering Committee. Ms. Schrantz has litigated a variety of complex commercial matters, including multi-billion dollar tort claims, breach of contract disputes, multi-state consumer fraud class actions, and other business torts. She is also experienced in handling attorney-client privilege issues, and has co-authored publications on various aspects of the privilege, including internal investigations, new federal rules of evidence, and testimonial privileges.

In her communications practice, Ms. Schrantz has represented telecommunications clients in a variety of matters in regulatory and court proceedings. She has litigated contract, tariff, and interconnection disputes at the state commission and Federal Communications Commission level, and recently assisted a client in obtaining state commission approvals for a corporate merger.

Ms. Schrantz maintains an active pro bono practice. She has argued in the U.S. Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit as amicus counsel in a criminal appeal, first-chaired a jury trial for a client charged with first degree murder, and represented clients in political asylum, child custody, and First Amendment defamation cases.

Ms. Schrantz obtained her J.D. cum laude in 2000 from Indiana University School of Law, Bloomington and was a notes editor for the Indiana Law Journal.  Ms. Schrantz graduated from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign in 1997 as a James Scholar with High Distinction in English.
